In operation since 1938, the ENI Livorno refinery is located on an area of 1.8 km2, near the port area north of Livorno. The current processing capacity is 5.2 million tons of crude oil per year.
One of the company’s strengths is its location in a strategic position, which offers the possibility of easily carrying out trade via three channels: land, sea and railway line. This contributes to optimal logistics management.
Furthermore, product storage, reception, handling and distribution activities are optimized thanks to:
presence of a large tank farm;
connection with the Florence depot via two oil pipelines;
connection with the port facilities of Livorno through two docks;
numerous loading shelters for tankers and rail tankers.
Production cycle
The production cycle of the Livorno refinery is divided into two large areas.
First area: fuel production
diesel
petrols
jet fuel
Second area: production of lubricating bases for civil and industrial use. Furthermore, this area includes plants for the production of specialties, such as:
paraffins
traditional and modified bitumens
TDAE (Treated Distilled Aromatic Extract), extender oils for tire production
ISS Palumbo: how we brought value to the ENI Livorno refinery project
By carrying out all the activities of the logistics chain it was possible to have an overall vision of ENI’s needs, thus managing to introduce solutions capable of making the individual phases more interconnected with each other and therefore more efficient.
A single interlocutor and the same methodological approach from the picking of the products from the production lines or the unloading of the suppliers’ vehicles, through their storage in the warehouse, up to the preparation of the orders transmitted by the planning office and their loading onto the vehicles to reach Customers from all over the world.
Peculiarities of the project: the ENI operating context and the characteristics of the products managed are an important training ground in which to improve daily even on complex issues such as the management of dangerous goods or environmental protection;
Products managed: Industrial oils & packaged petroleum products (from 1000 liter tanks to 1 liter canisters);
Human resources: 40 people;
Areas managed: 10,000 m2 uncovered & 18,000 m2 covered;
Main data: 2500 material codes, 83000 tons/year shipped, 7200 shipments/year, 92000 deliveries/year.
What unites us: the daily commitment to sustainability
Respect for the environment is a primary element in the management of the ENI Livorno refinery. The promotion of a sustainable development model and the commitment to operate responsibly are part of the values of Eni and of the Livorno refinery itself.
We at ISS Palumbo also promote a sustainable global economy, committing ourselves daily to respecting human rights and the environment. Our approach to sustainability is based on the main objective of producing responsible profitability, ensuring ethical business conduct.
Collaboration is the key to meeting the challenges of tomorrow with confidence and success.
